    The knife handle scales are crosscut off of a 1.6" thick block of material so there may be machine marks from the saw blade on the surfaces of the scales which you may need to sand flat. Because the scales are crosscut off of a block, the burgundy color will only be on the long edges of the scales. On the blocks, they will be burgundy on the top and bottom surfaces as shown in the photos.
    We do not know exactly how old this material is. Generally, we call materials "old stock" and not "vintage" if we believe they are less than 30 years old.
