Mars, Incorporated, a global leader in pet care products and services, confectionery, snacking and food and the maker of some of the world’s most-loved brands, has announced the launch of th.WeR4HappyTails.com portal. This initiative follows the world’s largest global pet parents survey and aims to address the issue of pet homelessness in Thailand by promoting pet adoption through an innovative online portal. The portal is launched in partnership with three pet shelters: The Voice Foundation, Soi Dog Foundation, and Jai Dog Rescue. It coincides with Mars Global Adoption Weekend, promoting commitment to compatibility as a mutual benefit for both adopted pets and their pet parents and helping shelter pets find loving homes.
The Global Adoption Weekend event in Thailand, held on October 19, 2024, showcases Mars Petcare leveraging technology to connect potential pet parents with shelter pets. The highlight was the demonstration of Mars’s online portal, th.WeR4happytails.com, which in real time features profiles of adoptable pets from the partner shelters.
Mr. Ratchakorn Chenpattanapong, General Manager for Mars Pet Nutrition Thailand and Indochina, emphasised Mars Petcare’s commitment to living the purpose of “A Better World for Pets” and putting in a lot of effort to tackle the pet homelessness issues around the world, including Thailand, through many initiatives.
“Our recent Mars Global Pet Parent study highlighted that we are becoming a pet-obsessed world with over one billion pets globally, and almost half (47%) of those surveyed are first-time owners. For Thailand, more than half of the pet parents are also having pets for the first time in their lives across all generations. However, only 5% of puppy owners and 3% of kitten owners adopt their pets from shelters, highlighting the need to raise awareness and support for shelter adoptions. We are excited to partner with incredible shelters to make a real difference in the lives of pets in need,” said Mr. Ratchakorn.
Pets have diverse energy levels, exercise needs, and care requirements. Choosing a pet that aligns with your daily routine and activity level ensures they get the proper attention and care. Mars’ adoption portal was designed with a commitment to compatibility – to help future pet parents find the right pet that matches their lifestyle and preferences, offering a seamless experience for those looking to welcome a new furry friend into their home.
“Through our th.WeR4happytails.com website, we hope to inspire more new pet parents to consider adopting pets as well as to provide advice, guidance, and support to make informed decisions when choosing their companion, reflecting our mission to promote compatible pet adoption,” Ratchakorn added.
Ms. Chollada Mekratri, Founder of The Voice Foundation, shared her excitement about the partnership: “The Voice Foundation has always been dedicated to giving animals a voice, and this partnership with Mars takes that mission to the next level. We are thrilled to be a part of this project, which will help so many deserving animals find loving homes.”
Ms. Louise Rose, CEO of Soi Dog Foundation emphasised the need for greater collaboration to combat the crisis of homeless pets: “Soi Dog Foundation has been at the forefront of rescuing and rehabilitating street dogs and cats for more than two decades. Addressing the homeless pet crisis requires collaboration, and this partnership exemplifies how working together can drive meaningful change.”
Mr. Mike Dower, Co-Founder of Jai Dog Rescue, highlighted the importance of finding the right match between pet and owner: “At Jai Dog Rescue, we believe that every animal deserves a chance to find a home that suits its needs and always prefer to find loving homes for our rescue dogs in Thailand. The WeR4happytails platform is helping potential adopters make informed decisions. This is critical to creating lasting relationships and reducing the number of animals that end up back in shelters.”
Additionally, as part of Global Adoption Weekend Mars invited pet parents to play their part in supporting shelter pets by participating in a special payday campaign “Let’s pay forward to our four-legged friends “เปย์ให้น้องสี่ขากับมาร์ส เพ็ทแคร์” on Lazada, where for every 100 THB purchase of Mars Petcare products on Lazada during 25-30 October 2024, Mars will donate one meal to the shelter pet. *
